Overhead Conductor Tension and Sags, and Guying of Poles Seminar
Category: General > Energy / Renewable / Nature 26th Sep 2011 - 27th Sep 2011 The design of overhead distribution system on public right-of-ways requires the selection of wood or concrete poles that will withstand wind and ice loading. With the introduction of Ontario Regulation 22/04, any new, changes, or addition to an existing pole line must be designed/verified to have sufficient mechanical strength in accordance with to CSA Standard C22.3 No. 1 (Overhead Systems).
This two-day seminar will outline the physical and mechanical characteristics of the overhead line components and show how to apply these to design pole lines that meets the Regulation. Reference Standards and applicable specifications will be given. Examples will be presented.
Various Excel spreadsheets will be demonstrated to assist in determining pole class and guying/anchoring requirements to meet the required Grades of Construction. Please bring your calculator.
